learning from mistakes

Learning from mistakes

Since we practise Montessori, the boys have been using glass and ceramic ware since their toddler years.

This is the way they learn to handle things carefully.

Over the past decade, they broke less than 10 in total. Quite a feat actually.

Today, one child broke his personalised birthday mug because he held it by the silicon cover while it stuck.

Now he knows the suction isn’t that strong.

Lesson learnt.

It’s ok to make mistakes at home and when young. Just learn from them.

It takes years of practice to be careful,

to be organised,

to be detailed,

to develop self-control, and more.

The older we grow, the more costly mistakes can be.

Let’s embrace mistakes — both our child’s and ours.
